Job Description:

The Agriculture/livelihood Assistant will be based at SIF Field office Khyber; and will be responsible for planning, designing, implementation and reporting of livelihood, agriculture and horticulture interventions in Orakzai under the direct supervision of Project Manager. S/he will technically ensure the adherence to the standards of humanitarian work while implementation project related activities in timely manner.

In addition, s/he may be called upon to carry out surveys, participatory needs assessments or any other activity that may be deemed necessary.

MISSIONS AND ACTIVITIES

Responsible for:

  •    Development of area profile and collection of data regarding the target groups
  •    Identification of the Assessment of project beneficiaries as per the approved beneficiary selection criteria.
  •    Assessment for potential agriculture needs according to the area.
  •    Assessment for potential livelihood needs according to the area.
  •    His responsibility is to make aware to farmers with the available services and equipment’s.
  •    He is responsible for coordinating and instructing crew members to develop the farms in rural area and highlight the problems, to diminish them.
  •    The responsibility of agriculture assistant is to provide trainings to the farmer committee.
  •    He is responsible for providing modern technique to plough field in easy way and motivate farmer to adopt modern  farming
  •    He is responsible for motivating farmers to use high productive seeds, and protective insecticides, and available modern fertilizers.
  •    Agriculture assistant is responsible for promoting farmers to improve quality of fields.
  •    He is responsible for providing the maximum healthy crops, which is beneficial for government also.
  •    He will  be responsible for  coordination will  the line departments
  •    Any other assignment given by the supervisor according to the project need.
  •    He will be responsible for the identification of potential needs in agriculture sector.
  •    He will be responsible for amazing ideas and techniques which can help in improving production rate of Orakzai.
  •    His responsibility is to teach formers by giving best skills or tips of handling problems and issues. 

Objective 2: Coordination

Activities:

  •    Maintain close liaison with  CBOs and farmer committee 
  •    Establish strong liaison with the all relevant departments and get the technical guidance, day to day lessons and best practices replication in implementing.                                                                                              

Objective 3: Documentation

Activities:

  •    Ensure proper documentation.
  •    Developed case studies/ success stories
  •    Final report of different activities  work

Objective 3: Reporting

Activities:

  •    Report all the activities to project manager in a timely manner.
  •    Collect and analyze the  reports and provide necessary feedback to the concerned
  •    Prepare field visit  report and other ad hoc reports

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/BEHAVIOR

  • Good communications skills (both written and verbal); fluency in Pushto & Urdu; knowledge of English an asset.
  • Minimum Two Years relevant experience      
  • Good knowledge of rights based approach and of social dynamics in working area
  • Experience of working with diverse civil society organizations
